Commercial Architecture

Located on the ground floor of an old building in the historic centre of Oporto, this space was totally refurbished to give way to a restaurant that would take place along the three half floors and basement, in a fluid and comfortable way.

We bet on the use of architectural elements that throw us back to the building’s time to create the uncompromising and welcoming environment that was thought. We used wood panelling, handmade tiles, hydraulic mosaic, ceiling mouldings and to all these, we added a metallic staircase to connect all the floors, which, due to its oxidized iron appearance, allowed to make the environment more rough and thus complement the space that we tried to characterize.

In the basement, where all the service areas, kitchen and restrooms take place, a more contemporary language was assumed. Here, the priorities were essentially the technical and functional needs of each space, which, ended up conditioning the intervention a lot.
